One of the most amazing things, I think, is when you're driving somewhere and the song you're listening to ends right as you arrive at your destination. Somehow you had the urge to put it on, somehow the radio flipped to it, somehow the cd or playlist switched its track right at the appropriate distance away from your resting place and allowed you to experience the whole song to its fullest potential. You put the car in park, and the last note quickly begins to fade. You hold your hand on the keys in the ignition until the silence comes, and it was time -- you had arrived.
I love when that happens.
Did I mention that I was listening to
this song??

I agree so thoroughly. It's almost like the resolving note to your drive, just as the song too is resolving itself. I can never help but to smile and simply get lost in the silence for a few seconds after this happens.
I too enjoy that synchronicity. Sometimes I feel the need to wait for a song to finish before I can leave the car. This synchronicity you mention is really the best possible ending to a car ride.
I love Einaudi. Such amazing, emotional music.
I once had an experience during the winter around 1am while walking in familiar woods alone listening to Einaudi [on my really nice noise reducing headphones]. I had walked into a small rectangular clearing, everything covered in snow. I had entered as the last minute and a half of Fly off the album Divenire played. I normally have control over my emotions, but that song was so dark I became paranoid circling in place in the middle of this field. I swear I saw eyes right as the song was ending so I walked out of the field. Relieved I couldn't wait for the next song to come and change the mood, but the next track, Ascolata, continued the path and kept me in a strange place. It was very intense. I've never felt such irrational fear from music.

no coincidences.
i drove to the cape wednesday night, with my ipod. i think i started it on shuffle (i don't remember the music at the beginning of the trip); then i played some of the album Relics, by Pink Floyd; then i listened to all of Saucerful of Secrets by Floyd---the last song on the album ended as i placed the car in park, perfectly on arrival.
